I pull up into the grocery store parking lot. It’s 10 o’clock on a Tuesday morning. The parking lot is full and people are frantically pushing carts, hollerin at kids, and puttin dents in other people’s car doors. I think, “This is odd, for a Tuesday”. Having missed the news that morning that, it necessarily crossed my mind, “Is it 911 again”? So I walk up the elderly security guard, who had what looked to be a navy tattoo on his neck and said, “Parking lot’s pretty full huh”? He yells, “Didn’t you hear bout it”? I think, “Oh shit. I knew I shoulda watched the news this mornin”. Trying to sound less apprehensive than I was, I respond, “No I haven’t seen any news”. He says, “It’s bad, real bad”! I say, “Oh yeah”? He says, “Yeah.” I ask, “So what is it”? He asks me, “You haven’t heard”? “Naw, I ain’t heard”. “It’s been to TV”. I ask, “What is it”?! Almost gleefully he yells, “Ice storm”! “Two to four inches”! It can creep up on ya. Catch ya by surprise”.

I guess I’m just a little on edge.

BOOM! That’s the sound of a roadside bomb.

Once a partner of mine told me that his spiritual leader had received supreme wisdom as a result of his journey to the sun. So I asked him, “How could he go to the sun without burnin up? Ain’t a little toasty there”? He looked at me dead serious and said, “He went at night, fool”! My people.

BREAKING NEWS FROM JERUSALEM:

This is Shakita Robinson, at BET, with breaking news from occupied Palestine. We go live to BET’s Lexus Mitchell reporting. Lexus are you there? Lexus? Yes, I’m here. Thank you Shakita. I’m here to report that the man who suddenly appeared several weeks ago calling himself Jesus and performing what many have called miracles, has been kidnapped and is being held hostage by a group calling itself The Hardcore 700 and 1 End Times, We Want a Different Kinda Jesus Crusaders. The group’s slogan “BOMB YOUR ENEMIES” has appeared on walls throughout this Holy City in recent weeks. This morning, in a video aired by the CBN network, a masked gunman from the group, which also goes by the name of the Seven Hundred and Wieners, correction, that’s Seven Hundred and Oners, declared that if the Palestinian leader and his followers did not renounce his call of people, regardless of race and religion, to come together for peace, self-determination, justice, and love, they would be forced to put him on trial for sedition. If convicted, the penal would be death. Violent demonstrations, led by the Oners, have been taking place throughout the day. The demonstrators, who were, at times, joined by members of the Israeli security forces, chanted, “How can he be Jesus, this guy is Black”? and “What schvartze is this”?

Nevertheless, the Israeli peace movement and their new spokesman Robert Zimmerman have openly, like a rolling stone, embraced Jesus.

Until the time of his earlier morning capture, the so-called miracles had continued, as millions swarm to the region to see for themselves if the recent reports are true. The Arab news network Al-jazeera, reported that last night, the streets of Jerusalem were teeming with onlookers stunned by the sight of hundreds of former paraplegics carrying their wheel chairs to huge bonfires set at roadblocks by members of the Revolutionary Brigades of the Formerly Blind. In a telephone interview, a member of the Brigade, a Hakim 97X stated, “I knew he was Jesus as soon as I saw his face”. I asked Mr. X what he had heard about the man calling Himself Jesus. He said, “Jesus? They say this cat is a bad motha …” I said, “Watch yo mouth” and he said, “But I’m talkin bout Jesus”. And then we both said, “Then we can dig it”.

I’m being handed a report. I’ll read it for you. This says that Jesus has apparently vanished into thin air before the eyes of His captors.

Eyewitnesses, in the ghettos of Jerusalem, report that they have seen and spoken with Him. “As he moved amongst the crowd.”

For a brief period, tonight, He was, inexplicably, heard and seen on every radio in the region. As part of a prepared statement Jesus said, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen”. (Hebrews 11:1)

The Pentagon has yet to confirm whether the voice and image on radios were, in fact, those of Jesus. But few people around the world seem to be waiting for the results of the Pentagon’s analysis. In the United States, Black grandmothers across the Deep South aren’t waiting for confirmation either. As Mrs. Anna Mae Johnson, of New Orleans, Louisiana, a mother of 7, a grandmother of 19, and a great grand mother of 9, put it, “Don’t let em fool ya child. Dey know damn well dat was Jesus.
